Another Asian giant hornet found in BC, residents urged to be watchful

Another Asian giant hornet has been discovered in British Columbia.

It was found in Abbotsford on Monday, the province said.

Now beekeepers and residents are being asked to report any sightings of the invasive insect, which can deliver painful stings to humans.

Lone hornets were found in White Rock and Langley in 2019, with another found in Langley this year.

No nest has ever been found on the mainland.

But a nest was destroyed in Nanaimo in 2019.

Last month, meanwhile, scientists in Washington State destroyed a nest in Blaine, near the Canadian border.
